HAND - the feel of a surface or fabric
HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY - allowing an individual to visit and utilize a building without assistance
HANDRAIL - rail to be used by hand installed as a support or guard on a balcony, stairway, porch, etc.
HAND PAINTED GLASS - decorative glass, esp. English, which has been hand painted and leaded into a patterned glass window
HAND PRINTED - decorative surfaces applied by hand rather than machine
HEADBOARD/FOOTBOARD - plain or decorative boards or other materials used to create a headrest or end support on a bed, connected by side rails (Carved, Upholstered, etc.)
HEADING or ROD POCKET - hemmed portion along the top of a curtain
HEAD RAIL - horizontal bar housing blind mechanisms
HEARTH - fireplace floor extending into a room made of a fire-proof material
HEALTHCARE - the care, treatment and management of illness by preserving physical or mental well-being; CAREGIVER
HEATHER - multicolored effect created by blending fibers of different colors
HEIGHT - in design and drafting this refers to the overall measurement from top to bottom of any object
HERALDIC - medieval decorative motifs representing nobility
HEM ALLOWANCE - extra fabric added to measurements to create a hem
HERRINGBONE - fabric weaving technique created by alternating the direction in threading the loom to form a zigzag pattern
HIGHBOY - tall chest of drawers supported by legs
HIGH LOW - multi-level pile heights
HIGH-STYLE - any style, fashion or design considered most up-to-date, often costly
HOME AUTOMATION - technological innovations and electronics pre-wired or retro-fitted into residential applications
HOME THEATER - electronic equipment system designed to create theater-quality images and sound in a home
HOME OFFICE - allocation of a specific residential workspace to conduct business
HOMESPUN - simple fabric with irregular, tightly twisted, uneven yarns giving a homemade appearance
HOSPITALITY DESIGN - interior design specialization for individuals with specific knowledge and skills for the professional hotel/motel/convention design market
HOT TUB - a large soaking tub, often made of fiberglass and/or wood, designed to hold several people
HOUNDS TOOTH - pattern with a small scaled broken check pattern
HUE - color gradation (Brightness, Lightness, Saturation)
HVAC - Acronym for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning
